Presentation of the project

The project aims to develop a competence framework for teachers in higher education agricultural institutions in Tunisia and identify training needs. Based on the benchmarking of existing competence frameworks, the project aims to identify a list of teaching competence. On this basis teachers are asked to position themselves on these competences (through an anonymous online questionnaire) and rate their importance as well as their need for training on each competence. The competences are validated by focus groups including different stakeholders, including teachers, students and persons responsible for curriculum across the different IRESA institutions.

The project achieved the following results:

  • Production of a benchmark of competence frameworks for teaching

  • Development of a questionnaire for IRESA teachers on the importance and performance of competences for teaching

  • Validation of teaching competences with IRESA stakeholders

  • Development of a draft reference framework for the teaching skills and initiation of the validation process within IRESA institutions

More generally, the project led to the strengthening of ties between three academic institutions (IRESA, UNIL and EPFL).
