Sustainable Business

Why choose this major?

The sustainable transition is creating new professions: CSR manager, Sustainability officer, Sustainable project manager, and more. Organisations are looking for managers who can understand planetary boundaries, carry out sustainability diagnostics, lead change, and anticipate future developments through strategic foresight.

The Master of Science in Business Administration – Major in Sustainable Business trains these emerging professionals at the crossroads of management, strategy, and sustainability. This programme is designed for those who aspire to drive the transformation of organisations and companies in a rigorous and responsible manner.

Students will learn to:

  • Develop a nuanced understanding of ecological and social challenges and how they interact with companies, organisations, and the broader economic system;

  • Master and apply key sustainability assessment tools to diagnose their organisation and monitor progress over time (e.g., carbon footprinting, materiality analysis, etc.);

  • Define a sustainability transformation strategy and project for their company or organisation, grounded in a robust risk analysis;

  • Integrate long-term thinking into strategy and decision-making, and build systemic foresight studies and scenarios;

  • Identify sustainability challenges and barriers across key organisational functions such as accounting and reporting, marketing, communications, HR, and logistics;

  • Lead or accelerate the sustainability transition within their company or organisation, leveraging change-management methods.

Special features

Given the cross-cutting nature of sustainability competencies, two large-scale integrative projects are offered to students over the two years of the programme. These projects will focus on companies or organisations seeking to initiate or strengthen their sustainability transition, allowing students to put into practice the full range of knowledge acquired across the different modules.
