SNSF Project Funding Essentials: From Evaluation to Proposal Structure for Researchers in Mathematics, Informatics, Natural and Technical sciences (MINT) and Life Sciences (LS)
In the face of increasing competition for research funding, having a clear understanding of the challenges and procedures provides an advantage for preparing a competitive proposal and increasing its chances of success. The Project Funding instrument offered by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) can be a valuable opportunity for research projects in technical fields (Mathematics, Informatics, Natural and Technical sciences and Life Sciences).
This training is specifically tailored to equip researchers with the essential knowledge to prepare a competitive proposal for the SNSF Project Funding instrument. This training will comprehensively cover all the formal aspects, including the evaluation procedure, along with providing insights into writing a compelling research plan.
By the end of the training, every participant will better understand the essential elements. They will have benefited from the expertise of a MINT researcher and receive guidance from a research advisor at SIR. Participants should note that this training is geared towards the technical domains, while a separated DEVPRO training is proposed for the researchers working in Social Sciences and Humanities.
This training will be divided in two parts:
- Morning: After an introduction during which participants present themselves and share their interest in the training, the session will focus on understanding the SNSF Project Funding instrument, with particular attention to its specificities in the technical sciences. The aim is also to highlight the key elements and common challenges involved in preparing and submitting a competitive proposal.
- Afternoon: The afternoon will be dedicated to the research plan content with some tips and examples. At the end of the day, optional time slots with one of the speakers will be available for participants who wish to discuss their project individually.
This course does not count towards the "Attestation didactique de la HES-SO".
