Swiss industry faces a dual challenge: a growing shortage of skilled workers and the gradual loss of expertise as experienced employees retire. In this context, human error and unplanned production downtime generate significant costs, particularly for SMEs. The Innosuisse project “Real-Time AI Auditing for Industrial Workforce Empowerment” proposes a practical solution to improve operational productivity and quality.
Developed by the HEG-VS School of Management and a start-up based in the Zurich region, the system uses cameras worn by operators in combination with artificial intelligence technologies. It provides real-time, context-specific instructions while detecting deviations from procedures and flagging errors. As it operates directly on the device without relying on the cloud, it ensures smooth and secure use in the field.
Unlike conventional training or retrospective analysis, this approach provides immediate, interactive support in dynamic working environments. The system will be tested with Swiss industrial partners to validate its performance and user adoption. By facilitating skills transfer, reducing errors and improving safety, the project aims to strengthen the long-term competitiveness and resilience of Swiss industry.
