E-portfolio

Portflow, the e-portfolio tool for HES-SO students.

Description of the tool

The Portflow solution is an e-portfolio platform made available to schools and HES-SO study programmes to support their students in developing, documenting and showcasing their skills. This central educational tool is part of a competence-based approach and aims to strengthen future graduates’ employability, autonomy and ability to adapt to changes in the world of work and societal challenges.

Portflow meets the following objectives: :

  1. Reflective practice and autonomy: It encourages critical reflection on learning, self-assessment and the setting of personalised goals, thereby promoting greater autonomy.

  2. Showcasing skills: It enables students to document and showcase their achievements, projects and learning outcomes throughout their course of study and to support their transition into professional life.

  3. Skills assessment: It integrates with course assessment systems to certify skills development.

Accessible via Cyberlearn, Portflow is designed to be used in collaboration with teachers, peers and professionals, within a structured and monitored educational framework.

Implementation model

The roll-out of the Portflow system at HES-SO is part of a two-stage process. This phased approach ensures a coherent and sustainable educational and technical integration that is aligned with the competence-based approach. Entry onto the programme is conditional upon the fulfilment of prerequisites.

The first technical implementations of the tool are scheduled for the 2026–2027 academic year.

  1. Educational support

The programme or campus must demonstrate that it has developed a portfolio system consistent with its context, drawing on the educational resources available. A guide to support implementation is available. The SADAP is available to advise you.

  2. Technical support

Once the educational framework has been approved, a technical deployment plan will be initiated. Support for the implementation of the solution is planned in coordination with the IT department of the regional education authority. Implementation will then be led by the IT department of each higher education institution. The first technical support sessions will begin in spring 2026.
