There are different categories of mobility:

Switzerland currently participates in the Swiss Programme for Erasmus+.

The Swiss Programme for Erasmus+ for the higher education sector is called Swiss-European Mobility Programme SEMP. SEMP enables higher education institutions to financially support HES-SO teaching staff to spend periods teaching at a university in Europe, or for teaching staff of European partners to teach at HES-SO.

Teaching mobility allows teaching staff to teach at a partner university, and can take place in any academic branch or discipline.

Participation criteria

  • Existence of a bilateral SEMP contract between the two universities
  • Minimum of 8 hours teaching per week
  • Length of mobility activity: minimum 2 days (excluding travel days) / maximum 2 months
  • Additional criteria specific to each university

Procedures

To participate in SEMP teaching mobility, a SEMP agreement must be in place between your home university and HES-SO. Please check with your university's international office to see if such an agreement exists.

All SEMP mobility activities must be accompanied by a grant declaration (if a grant is awarded), a mobility agreement approved by the host institution, and a stay report. To obtain these forms, please contact the international office of the HES-SO university concerned.

The detailed procedure will vary according to the HES-SO university and your university, so please verify all details with the relevant people.

Funding

As a staff member participating in a SEMP mobility programme, you may be eligible for a grant.

The grant is made up of a daily allowance and a travel allowance. The basic daily allowance is CHF 170 per day, decreasing to CHF 80 per day after 15 days. The travel allowance is calculated on the basis of the distance travelled, using the European Union's travel calculator.

To apply for a grant, please contact the international relations office of your host university.

Accommodations

Accommodations are provided to any member of a university's staff whose individual physical, mental or health condition would make it difficult for them to take part in mobility activities.

Staff members who need accommodations can apply to their university for additional grants (up to a maximum of CHF 12,000) to cover part of the costs incurred as a result of their disability during their stay at HES-SO. These grants only compensate for costs for which the staff member concerned would not otherwise receive support.

For all inquiries, please contact the international relations office of the HES-SO university concerned.
