Al-generated text in Higher Education Institutions (HEls ): Are all responses equal?
Project description
This project investigated Al-generated text in Higher Education Institutions (HEls). Scant research has tested consistency and quality assurance. Initial results confirm that HEI stakeholders need to adapt a radically new approach, that is, back to the basics, to mitigate the rise of 'fast education'.
Through Generative Artificial Intelligence (Gen Al), students may skip pertinent steps in the scaffolding of education. Students must be taught effective prompt engineering and critical assessment of the output. If HEls do not slow down and teach the basics, we risk producing young graduates who enter the workforce with unrealistic expectations that all written output produced by Gen AI is 'good enough’.
Thus, this project promotes a new approach toward using Gen AI in HEIs and, more specifically, new writing and critical thinking courses across all HEls.
