Plan d’études Entrepreneurship (Innovation and Growth)

Semester 1

Entrepreneurial Intention and New Venture (5 ECTS)
The course focuses on a thinking process. It involves studying and discussing the relationships between what entrepreneurs are, what they do and how they think in order to do what they do.

Innovation & Technology Entrepreneurship (5 ECTS)
Innovation processes, open innovation and business models are discussed in a first part. A second part addresses technological innovation and its adaptation and diffusion. The protection of intellectual property is another core theme discussed in this module.

Semester 2

Venture Planning (5 ECTS)
This module teaches the objectives, structure, and the most important components of a business plan.

Project Ventures in Action I (5 ECTS)
Module over 2 semesters. Students start a real business with the objective of achieving revenues and maybe profits within the class timeframe. The project allows an innovative business idea to be transformed into a real operating business. 

Project Innovation Discovery & Technology Transfer (3 ECTS)
Students write a conceptual paper about new technologies, their potential for development and spectrum of possible application. The main goals are getting in touch with unknown technologies, interviewing experts and companies, researching fields of application, and presenting the outcome to the class (knowledge transfer).

Semester 3

Entrepreneurial Finance (5 ECTS)
The financial and tax challenges facing companies from start-up and growth-funding to all aspects surrounding the financing of a business succession are discussed. In addition, Emphasis is placed on company valuation for young and fast-growing enterprises.

International Entrepreneurship (5 ECTS)
In addition to the theoretical aspects of market entry strategies or ways of internationalizing SMEs, this course also covers actionable methods to successfully work in an international environment, addressing both organizational and cultural aspects.

Project Discovering New Markets (5 ECTS) 
Students participate in an exchange program at a foreign university with a close link to entrepreneurship. The objectives of the study trip are to strengthen reflection on the intercultural challenges related to international business activities and to learn more about entrepreneurial behavior in ecosystems different from Switzerland.

Project International Case Study (3 ECTS)
Like othermarketing communication skills, learning how to write a case study takes time. Students contact an international SME, write a case study, produce a clip and present the case study with the entrepreneur/company.

Semester 4

Project Ventures in Action II (2 ECTS)
Students start a real business with the objective of achieving revenues and maybe profits within the class timeframe. The project allows an innovative business idea to be transformed into a real operating business.

Growth Management (5 ECTS)
This module is devoted to the fundamental strategic and operative issues in transforming a young enterprise into a growing one. Not only will the opportunities be discussed, but also the problems arising with the rapid and oftentimes chaotic growth of an emerging company. 

Master Thesis (15 ECTS)
The main objective of this individual work is to prove the necessary knowledge, know-how, competencies, and analytical and methodical rigor of the field of Entrepreneurship in order to be able to analyze and solve a practical problem or answer a scientific question.
