Prepare a competitive SNSF proposal in Mathematics, Informatics, Natural Sciences (MINT) and Life Sciences (LS) domains

Recherche 21/01/2025

Public cible : Researchers from HES-SO working in a technical domain (Mathematics, Informatics, Natural and Technical sciences or Life Sciences) who plan to write and submit a proposal to SNSF Project Funding instrument

In the face  of increasing competition for research funding, having a clear understanding of the challenges and procedures provides  an advantage for preparing a competitive proposal and increasing its chances of success. The Project Funding instrument offered by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) can be a significant opportunity for research projects in technical fields (Mathematics, Informatics, Natural and Technical sciences and Life Sciences).

This training is specifically tailored to equip researchers with the essential skills to prepare competitive proposals for  the SNSF Project Funding instrument. This training will comprehensively cover all the formal aspects, including the evaluation procedure, and provide insights into writing a compelling research plan.

By the end of the workshop, every participant will better understand the essential elements and will have practical tools to help them achieve their submission objective. They will have benefited from the expertise of a MINT researcher-evaluator and receive guidance from a research advisor from the Service à l’Innovation et à la Recherche (SIR).

Participants should note that this training is geared towards technical domains, while a separated DEVPRO training is proposed for the researchers in the Social Sciences and Humanities domains.

This training will be divided in two parts:

  • Morning: After an introduction of the participants and their interest in the training, the aim is to learn about the SNSF Project Funding instrument and its specificities for the technical sciences, as well as the key elements and challenges to submit a competitive proposal.
  • Afternoon: The participants will be invited to work and engage in group discussions on concrete examples of different parts of the research plan

This course does not count towards the "attestation didactique de la HES-SO".

Intervenant·es

Henning Müller, Professor HES at HES-SO Valais-Wallis, Head of eHealth Unit and member of the Swiss National Research Council. Clémence Roggo, Doctor in Life Science, Research advisor at the Service à l’Innovation et à la Recherche (SIR - HES-SO).
