Professional prospects
Professionals in the field of conservation-restoration are specialists capable of understanding the material, artistic and historical complexity of cultural artifacts. They are further capable of methodically understanding the components and scientifically evaluating the information gained, in order to implement preventative conservation and/or curative (restoration) measures.
The high degree of specialisation and the wide variety of artifacts to be treated means the professional environment has a multidisciplinary character; it require active collaboration with other curators, historians, archeologists, ethnographers, artisans and artists.
Conservation-restoration professionals work independently or are employed by public and private institutions: museums, archeological services, archives or libraries.
The professional path could also lead to research and development as well as teaching.
