MasterBusiness Administration (MSc BA)
This Master's degree course complements the HES-SO Bachelor's degrees in the field of Business, Management and Services, with the emphasis both on specialisation within the different options offered and on developing personal potential, enabling future graduates to take responsibility for the management of organisational units within their companies. All candidates are taught the core curriculum in Lausanne, while the specialisation modules are undertaken in Fribourg, Geneva or Lausanne, depending on the major.
The degree course is unique in that it offers a single Master's programme made up of majors taught at different schools of business administration (HEG) in French-speaking Switzerland. Special emphasis is placed on practical training: in a programme covering 4 semesters (integration of a dual system), the course is oriented towards undertaking practical projects in collaboration with research institutes and with private and/or public business enterprises.
The HES-SO also differs from others in the importance given to the acquisition of social and methodological skills, ensured among other things by the inclusion of students in small teams of researchers and teaching staff; and in the range of majors, which differs from the academic choices offered by the universities.
The significant amount of personal study (around 2,700 hours including coursework, personal study and Master's thesis) that the students are required to undertake develops their ability to acquire knowledge and resolve problems independently.
Structure of the study schedule
The study schedule is designed to give students the option of working part-time, from Monday to Wednesday. The course will run on Thursdays and Fridays (all day), and on Saturday mornings.
