HES-SO/BFH Master of Arts in Architecture

School

Description

Two years of study lead to the award of a HES-SO/BFH Master of Arts in Architecture.

The Joint Master of Architecture is organised jointly by the architecture faculties of the University of Applied Sciences Western Switzerland (HES-SO) and the Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH). The colleges involved in the partnership are the Haute école paysage, ingénierie, architecture (HEPIA) Genève (EIG), the College of Engineering and Architecture of Fribourg (HEIA-FR) and the Ecole d'architecture, de génie civil et du bois de Berthoud (HSB).

The course is based on the principle of mobility within the network. It combines a regional foothold (parallel workshops at each site) with a common input of theory modules and options organised alternately between the three sites.

The study syllabus is focused on project work, interdisciplinary knowledge and research. It is concentrated on three areas of competence:

  • Management and processes
  • Living space
  • Urbanity and territory

The course is made up of three consecutive semesters, a summer school and a semester for work on the Master's thesis. Studies may be full-time or part-time.
