European Master of Science in Midwifery

A new collaboration

The European Master of Science in Midwifery is a programme run by four universities and followed by midwives with a Bachelor degree from all over Europe and sometimes overseas. Its creation had been had been funded by the Lifelong Learning Programme of the European Union. The first cohort of students started the programme in 2009.

The partners of the Eu MSc include the Medizinische Hochschule Hannover, the Academie Verloskunde in Zuyd University Maastricht, the University of Applied Sciences Western Switzerland (HES-SO) and the University of Hull.

The programme is delivered jointly by the four institutions and students are able to undertake modules both at their home institution and at any one of the partner institutions.

Audience Target

The programme aims to offer midwives the possibility of studying midwifery at an advanced level. The programme aims to stimulate a European exchange of theory and practice and to consider the contents of the study course from a European perspective.

The coordination of the Master of Science in Midwifery is currently run by the Medizinische Hochschule Hannover which has participated in the creation and the organisation of the programme since its beginning.
