Co-operative inquiry as a strategy to the empower marginalised communities and facilitate social change

The purpose of this lecture aims to illustrate how co-operative inquiry can be utilised to empower members of marginalised communities in facilitating social change. The social change to bring about was accessible minibus taxi services for wheelchair users. The concepts of social justice and decolonisation were imbued in the methodology.

Lecture will iclude theory, examples as well as quotes and stories. The lecture is based or form part of a PhD study of Jerome Peter Fredericks.

The four themes i.e., practical arrangements, understanding process and purpose, bonding, and a cohesive group were identified. The themes showed progress from logistics, through individual understanding, to the group becoming one, and working together. Each of these phases are important in the development of a co-operative inquiry.
